Kevin's TC (Mk3) V8 Cortina Ute

The story behind this car

Kevin got the car from a guy who lives in Belmont. He went to this guys place with a mate who was chasing some escort parts when he noticed what seamed to be a cortina ute in his back yard. He didnt think to much about it as I thought it was a wagon cut into a ute. It would have been about three months down the track when this guy told his mate it was a genuine ute from South Africa. On hearing this he had to have another look at it. When he started looking at it the first thing he noticed is the longer doors, leaf spring rear end and a huge rear chassis section which carried on into the cab under the front seats. The removable style side rear end. On seeing this he knew it had to be original and he had to have it. With a bit of negociating he got it for $600 (AUD) and took it home that day. It was a rolling licensed shell which had the original V6 taken out and replaced with a straight pre cross 250. Since then it has a 289 windsor V8 which has been fully balanced, late model (EL) Falcon windsor heads with 1.9in intakes and 1.5in exhaust valves fitted, ports have been opened up alot. All matched ported to the intake manifold, modifyed push rods to accept the heads as the lengths are different, wiend accelerator manifold, carter AFB 625cfm carby, isky grind 496thou cam, custom extractors from castle main rod shop over east as with the conversion kit to fit the engine, twin 2 1/2in exhaust system, double row timing chain, late model timing cover and water pump (which are shorter than the earlier ones),its running the late model serpentine belt, accel billit electronic distributer, thats enough about the engine for now. Its mated to a C4 auto with a wild shift kit and a EL falcon diff which has been welded with 3.23 gears. the car is out of action at the moment as it has had a arguement with a brick pillar but he will get onto that soon.
